Summary
Farmers for Soil Health is a program for farmers made by farmers, making it one of the easiest cost share programs to sign up for. The Iowa Soybean Association is leading implementation. IAWA partners with ISA and Iowa corn to promote the program in Iowa, thanks to an outreach grant from National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
Eligible farmers can get $50/acre over a three year period for first time cover crop use. If you’re not a new cover crop user, you can still get $2/acre yearly. The initiative’s goal is to improve soil health by encouraging farmers to expand their adoption of cover crops to 30 million acres by 2030.
To sign up, go to FarmersForSoilHealth.com and click “enroll now.” You’ll have to create an account, and verify your email address before you can register. After that, registration should only take about a half hour.
FSH is a farmer-led partnership among the Soy Checkoff, Pork Checkoff and National Corn Growers Association, which advances soil health practices to meet sustainability and profitability goals, funded through USDA Partnership for Climate Smart Commodities.
