2017 Soil Health Conference: Building Soil Health for Healthy Environment and Farm Profitability

The 2017 Soil Health Conference marks the second year for this event.

Last year, the 2016 inaugural conference was marked by successful attendance, engagement, and positive feedback for continuing this tradition in addressing soil health challenges. Previously, the inaugural Soil Health Conference drew nearly 300 attendees with wide interest and background. These attendees included farmers, agronomists, students, scientist, farm managers, and also agency personnel. Last year’s highlight of the conference was the wide range of presentations and group discussions. As a result, these discussions led to outcomes addressing the needs for advancing soil health in the state, which included research, extension and outreach, and partnership and engagement platforms.

Building Success and Research Efforts on Soil Health

In 2017, the Soil Health Conference will be building on the success of the inaugural conference, in which feedback from attendees helped to shape the agenda of this conference.

Furthermore, this conference will be a full two days with a wide range of presentations and formats that address the basic and practical aspects of soil health. This conference’s agenda includes speakers from the academia, farmers, USDA, non-profit, and industry views concerning soil health understanding, challenges, and potential management practices.

Also, there will be a poster session highlighting the current research efforts on soil health. The hope is that you take advantage and attend this two days conference to gain the knowledge that can advance your understanding and professional development. You will also be gaining CCA credits in soil and water management.

The 2017 Soil Health Conference will be held at the Scheman Building, Ames, Iowa.
